Workshop Formats
- Classroom Workshops: Guided instruction, demonstrations, and practical exercises in a controlled learning environment.
- Field Workshops and Photowalks: Real-world photography experiences with on-location coaching and assistance.
Classroom workshops are generally offered Monday through Thursday from 1:00–3:00 PM or 6:30–8:30 PM. Field workshops and photowalks are scheduled based on location, subject, weather, and participant availability.

Photography became an important part of my work during my career in law enforcement and soon grew into a lasting passion. After retiring in 2012, I founded Schertz Photography School & Studio in early 2013 and began photographing and teaching full-time.

Since then, I have photographed individuals, families, organizations, and events across the United States and abroad. Whether working in the studio or on location, I focus on thoughtful preparation, clean lighting, natural expressions, and dependable results.
As an instructor, my goal is to make photography easier to understand. I explain technical concepts in plain language, demonstrate practical techniques, and give students the opportunity to apply what they learn immediately. My feedback is honest, constructive, and encouraging, helping students build both skill and confidence.
